Flood Early Warning System for DBMSDA Tangerang

Challange

Tangerang Regency consists of several flood-prone zones, especially during periods of intense rainfall. To strengthen flood preparedness and optimize preventive actions, the Dinas Bina Marga dan Sumber Daya Air (DBMSDA) required a reliable and data-driven method to monitor environmental conditions across critical river areas.

The primary challenges included:

• Limited real-time visibility of river water level fluctuations
• No centralized data reference to identify rivers with increasing flood risk
• Need for accurate rainfall and weather insights to support early mitigation measures
• Difficulty accessing timely information for rapid and well-informed decision-making during extreme weather

Solution

Nusa Network Prakarsa delivered an integrated IoT-based environmental monitoring system designed to support DBMSDA’s flood mitigation efforts. The solution includes Water Level Monitoring that provides real-time measurement of river levels at strategic flood-risk locations. A Weather Station is installed to continuously monitor key atmospheric parameters such as wind, humidity, temperature, and overall weather conditions. In addition, a Rain Gauge is deployed to capture accurate rainfall data, allowing DBMSDA to correlate precipitation levels with potential increases in river water elevation.

Results

Through the implementation of this IoT-based monitoring system, DBMSDA achieved:

• A fully established data-driven flood Early Warning System (EWS)
• More accurate monitoring of rainfall intensity and river water levels
• Stronger preventive measures and faster response during potential flood events

This solution significantly improves DBMSDA’s ability to anticipate flood risks, make timely decisions, and protect communities across flood-prone areas in Tangerang Regency.
